Construct Funding Instructions

Have you structured your Funding Instructions properly?

You create ACH or Canadian EFT Funding Instructions to credit and debit the FBO Settlement account. These are the batch or online transactions you use to move funds between various accounts. Ensure that the files follow the proper cnpAPI format. The following instructions are available for use:

  • Funding Instruction PayFac Credit (FIPC) - used to move funds from the PayFac Settlement account to the PayFac Operating account.

  • Funding Instruction PayFac Debit (FIPD) - used to move funds from the PayFac Operating account to the PayFac Settlement account.

  • Funding Instruction Reserve Credit (FIRC) * - used to move funds from the Settlement account to the Reserve account. Both Payment Facilitators and direct merchant can use this transaction type, except in Canada.

  • Funding Instruction Reserve Debit (FIRD) * - used to move funds from the Reserve account to the Settlement account. Both Payment Facilitators and direct merchant can use this transaction type except in Canada.

  • Funding Instruction Sub-merchant Credit (FISC) - used to move funds from the PayFac Settlement account to the sub-merchant Operating account.

  • Funding Instruction Sub-merchant Debit (FISD) - used to move funds from the sub-merchant Operating account to the PayFac Settlement account.

  • Funding Instruction Vendor Credit (FIVC) * - used to move funds from the Settlement account to the Vendor account. Both Payment Facilitators and direct merchant can use this transaction type, except in Canada.

  • Funding Instruction Void * - used to void a submitted, but unsettled funding instruction. (See Funding Instruction Void Transactions.) Both Payment Facilitators and direct merchant can use this transaction type.

  • FastAccess Funding™ - used to transfer funds to certain eligible Mastercard or Visa debit cards. Transfer of funds takes place within 30 minutes (seeFastAccess Funding). Both Payment Facilitators and direct merchant can use this transaction type.

  • Funding Instruction Payout Org Credit - used by direct merchants to move funds from the merchant Settlement account to the merchant Operating account.

  • Funding Instruction Payout Org Debit - used by direct merchants to move funds from the merchant Operating account to the merchant Settlement account.

  • Funding Instruction Customer Credit - used by direct merchants to move funds from the merchant Settlement account to the customer account.

* These funding instructions are not applicable/available for Canadian Dynamic Payout.

Do not mix other transaction types in a batch or session containing Funding Instructions. Construct separate sessions and batches for transaction processing versus Dynamic Payout Funding Instructions.

FastAccess Funding

FastAccess Funding is not available for Canadian Dynamic Payout at this time.

FastAccess Funding, a feature of Dynamic Payout, is a method for developers to disburse money to a recipient's debit card within minutes, leveraging Visa and Mastercard’s debit networks instead of the traditional ACH framework.

An instruction created as a FastAccess instruction can be submitted and settled every day of the week (vs. ACH, which only supports weekday settlement). Funds become available in a recipient’s account within 30 minutes of the developer receiving the authorization confirmation message.

Important: You should never try to re-send a FastAccess Funding instruction again unless the response clearly states ‘Try again later.’ The 'Try again later' response is not the same as a 'System Error ' response.

If you receive a 'System Error ' or similar response, please contact Worldpay eCommerce Technical Support immediately, and do not retry the instruction unless explicitly told to do so. If you decide to retry in the case of a ‘System Error’ response, there is a high risk that you will pay out to the card again, and there is nothing that Worldpay can do to recoup that money for you.

For additional information on same day and FastAccess funding, see the document, Dynamic Payout Same Day Funding FAQs.

The money movement into the PayFac Settlement account from card and Direct Debit transactions is the Net Settled Sales (i.e., Deposits - Refunds). The funds debited from the PayFac Operating account is the total of Interchange + chargebacks + assessments and Worldpay or RNPLLC fees for Payment Facilitators processing on the eCommerce platform, or just Worldpay fees, if processing on the Worldpay Core platform.
